Industry welcomes FiTs increase for micro-CHP

The micro-CHP industry is celebrating this week after Greg Barker, minister for energy and climate change, announced that Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs) for the technology are to increase from 10.5p/kWh to 12.5p/kWh, while the export tariff remains at 3p/kWh.

Both Baxi and the Heating & Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) have welcomed the increase, with Simon Osborne, spokesperson for Baxi, saying: “The effect of an improved FiT (for micro-CHP) will definitely stimulate demand, as well as interest and awareness,” while Chris Yates, HHIC deputy director, added: “By making it less onerous for householders to upgrade to mico-CHP makes it far more likely they are going to consider the technology with the help of their installer.”
